Well T4T supporters, the results are in for the 2014 “Healing along the Custer Trail”!!! As most of you know, the 2014 Trails4Transplants organ, eye, and tissue donor awareness ride commenced June 1, 2014 from Fort Lincoln State Park in Mandan, ND and ended at the Little Bighorn Battlefield in Garryowen, MT on June 19th. Thirteen riders rode the entire 444 mile distance with a support staff of 8. Over 90 other riders and 15 volunteers participated or rode portions of the journey. A total of 8,200 horseback miles were logged. Our data from our website, Facebook page, and other media sources, showed over 55,000 people received our message of donation! Praise to our Lord for excellent weather and warm welcomes from communities and landowners along the route. We only had a couple unscheduled dismounts in 19 days, with one softly landing in the river (names will not be disclosed). A special thank you to the representatives of the Lakota, Mandan-Hadatsa-Arikara, Crow, and Northern Cheyenne nations who participated in the ride and held cultural ceremonies at the beginning, middle and end of the ride. Not to mention a HUGE thanks to those who donated financially, served lunch, shared their donation stories, sponsored food, gave rides back to vehicles, did vet work for horses, donated farrier work and shoes, sponsored horse feed/hay, provided entertainment at night, and/or gave us a place to stay. T4T wouldn’t exist without the dedication of its supporters. Blessings to you all!
Stay tuned as we will announce the amount raised for the Gift of Life Transplant House in September when our group travels to deliver the check!
