2026 Ride Schedule

Location and Schedule:

Directions from Bismarck: Head west on I-94.  After the Bridge over the Missouri River use the left 2 lanes to take Left Exit 155 toward Mandan – Main St toward I-94 Business/ND-6. Continue onto E Main St for 1 mile. Turn left onto ND-1806S/6th Ave SE.  Continue to follow ND-1806S for 11 miles. Turn right onto Co Rd 81 for 3.2 miles.

Wednesday, May 27th: Early arrivals starting at noon. Orientation, networking, getting horses “legged up” and some short rides. There is no cost for this half day.

Thursday, May 28th: Arrivals, set up, and the ride starting at 11:00 AM. The ride will be through the Weinberger pasture to the ranch, out the top gate, through the Schmidt pasture and Marlene’s gate, south through the school land, and return on the road. (6 miles)

Friday, May 29th: Start at 10:00 AM, at the parking area at the junction of Hwy 1806 and the Ft
Lincoln State Park entrance. Hold “meet and greet” session with Eric Dietrich, park manager,
discussing the importance of the route. Coffee and doughnuts will be supplied by Dakota
Community Bank. The Ft Lincoln Foundation will also be involved. They will advertise and be
present. There will be limited room for a few folks to ride along a mile of so in one of the
wagons. We will have a prayer and record a tribute to Sally Jacobson at 10:15 am, leave at 10:30 am and
travel 7.5 miles along Hwy 1806 and CR 81 to the Hille house where we will stage for the
remainder of the event. We will also stop at 2:00 PM to listen to Sally Jacobson’s funeral service which will
be live streamed or otherwise available to us. We will have a large horse trailer to assist
transporting those already at the Hille staging area. Those needing help moving wagons need
to contact Roger Thursday night so arrangements can be made. The Lyford’s (Doug, Econ, and Josie) have offered to provide an evening meal for Friday night.

Saturday, May 30th: 8:30 am start. Ride SE to the breaks, N to Belohlavek’s dam, and home on Co Rd
81 (12 miles). This is a scenic ride that all will enjoy. A noon meal of traditional “Jake and Sally” type sandwiches will be provided by the Schulz’s, complete with Jakes favorite “Aquavit” sprit. There will be an opportunity for some desiring a shorter ride to take a shortcut, after the first 5 miles. The Hille’s will supply and prepare the evening meal of ham and potato salad.

Sunday, May 31st: 9:00 AM start, Ride west to Weinberger windmill, N to Weinberger homestead, CR 137, E to pasture gate, S to home. (5 miles). Afternoon rides for those staying. There is no cost for this day if you have already paid for three days.

Monday June 1st Open riding to Eileen (one of our signature trees) and other areas of interest. There is no cost for this day. This would be a fun “wind down and have more fun” day.

Please RSVP for the ride so that we may get a preliminary head count. See the link below. Still have questions about the weekend? Feel free to reach out to Roger Hille at [email protected] (218-201-0589).

Until then,  Happy Trails!
