Saturday, May 18 – Arrival & Orientation
Welcome to the Hille’s Windmill Ranch! Address is 5195 County Road 81, Mandan, ND. Directions: From Mandan, take Hwy 1806 south approx 11 miles to County Road 81, then 3 ¼ miles west and south on County road 81.
T4T folks will be available to guide you to the ranch location. In case of rain or inclement weather, we will stage east of the road at the house. A short ride can be accommodated this day for those interested. There will be guided kid rides from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. around the ranch for age 16 and under. Cost is $20.00 for kid rides.
Sunday, May 19 – Little Heart Butte/St. Anthony- (15 miles)
8:00 a.m. start. A short prayer service will start the day, then all will be in the saddle and ready to ride by 8:15 a.m. We will ride through Mike Schmidt’s pasture to the Little Heart Butte. We will have a break at the base of the Butte as separate groups (no more than 12) ascend and descend. From there, we will ride through Vern Leingang’s pasture to Highway 6 and into St. Anthony, arriving at 1:00 p.m.. Those interested can purchase lunch and refreshments at Rusty’s Saloon. Those wishing to trailer back can get a ride back to the staging area to pick up their trailers. The remainder will ride back along CR 136 through Dick and Mike Schmidt’s pastures, returning to the staging area by 4:00 pm. Hille’s will provide burger and beans for supper.
Monday, May 20 – Missouri Breaks/Lucky Doe Cabin (14 miles)
7:30 a.m. start. Ride will be south to the section line road, then east through the Jerry Kist and Kevin Schmidt pastures to the Lucky Doe Cabin. A short break there then back the same way to the Tony Belohlavek Gate. Riders wanting more miles will continue north past the dam, across the Little Heart Creek, then back north to the staging area. Riders wanting to return early will follow the section line back to the staging area. All should be back to the staging area by early afternoon. Depending on weather, a campfire is planned for this night.
Tuesday, May 21 – Last Chance Saloon, Solen (22 miles)
7:30 a.m. start. Route is CR 81 south to Solen. Those wishing to turn around part way are welcome to do so. Those riding the entire route should make arrangements to haul horses back. We will have some refreshments and snacks, then haul horses back to the staging area.
Wednesday, May 22 – Deer Valley/Breaking Hill (15 miles)
8:00 a.m. start. A shorter but more scenic ride through the Kist pasture and Deer Valley, back through Keller’s, up the Breaking Hill, then either back or a short (3 mile) detour to Rusty’s, then return. There will be an opportunity for those wanting a shorter ride to return to camp at the halfway point.
Thursday, May 23 – Watering Hole Saloon/Fort Rice (22 miles)
7:30 a.m. start. Route is CR 81 to CR 136A to Hwy 1806, then south to Ft. Rice. Those riding the entire route should make arrangements to haul horses back. We will have some refreshments and snacks, then haul horses back to the staging area.
Friday, May 24 – Fort Lincoln (22 miles)
7:30 a.m. start. Route is through Weinberger and Belohlavek pastures to CR 81 to Hwy 1806, to Fort Lincoln. We will gather at the park and have pizza for lunch. Those wishing to ride only one way should make arrangements to haul horses back to the staging area. There will be a silent auction with all proceeds supporting the T4T mission in the evening. Don’t forget your checkbook!
Saturday, May 25 – Missouri Breaks/Little Heart Creek (15 miles)
7:30 a.m. start. Route will be section line road to the Missouri Breaks, then back past Belohlavek’s Dam. There will be opportunities for those wishing to ride fewer miles to turn back after 7 miles. Guided kid rides from 2:00 till 5:00 p.m. around the ranch for age 16 and under. Cost is $20.00 for kid rides.
Sunday, May 26 – Little Heart Butte/St. Anthony (15 miles)
8:00 a.m. start. A short prayer service will start the day, then all will be in the saddle and ready to ride by 8:15. We will ride down to the Hille residence through Weinbergers, then participate in the Schwartzbauer Honor ride. Trails4Transplants will donate a portion of this day’s receipts to the Schwartzbauer education fund. The ride is scheduled to leave at 9:00 AM and is 7.5 miles long. A free lunch will be provided by Rusty’s Bar and Grill. From there we will ride back along Highway 6 and through Vern Leingang’s pasture and past the Butte. Those interested can ride to the top of the butte. (The route back to the ranch is 5.5 miles.) Those wishing to trailer back can get a ride back to the staging area to pick up their trailers. We will be back at the ranch by approximately 5:00 p.m. We will all “throw together” for an evening meal. A campfire is planned, as some of the participants from the Schwartzbauer ride plan to join us. Please see flyer for more details.
Monday, May 27 – Deer Valley/Breaking Hill (10 miles)
Memorial Day…….remembering those lost and those who gave the precious gift of life.
7:30 a.m. start. Morning ride for those interested to Kist pasture and Deer Valley. This is a short ride, so we plan to be back by noon.
