CHI Oakes Hospital is creating a Gift of Life Wall to pay tribute to organ, eye and tissue donors and the incredible gifts given. The tribute will be along the Emergency Room corridor wall. The Gift of Life Wall will not only pay homage to donors, but will be a lasting memorial for donor families to visit, increase awareness about donation throughout the hospital, initiate conversations about donation, and save more lives.
The Gift of Life Wall is sponsored by Trails4Transplants, an annual long distance multi-week trail ride with a mission to raise awareness about the need for organ, eye and tissue donation. Trails4Transplants is proud to support local awareness projects such as this.
A dedication ceremony will take place at CHI-Oakes Hospital on Monday, May 22nd, 2017 from 5-7 pm. Riders from Trails4Transplants will be on hand, as the 2017 trail ride will be arriving in Oakes that Monday.
Donor families, CHI Oakes leadership and staff, Trails4Transplants riders and leaders, LifeSource organ, eye and tissue donation, Dakota Lions Sight & Health, Minnesota Lions Eye Bank, and the public are all invited to attend. There will be a meal, sponsored by the Oakes Lions Club, a program, and the Gift of Life Wall unveiling.
“We’re honored to be able to pay homage to our local donors and their families in this way and hope that the community will join us in commemorating this beautiful wall. It truly is a Gift of Life,” said CHI Oakes Hospital CEO Becki Thompson.
