Discovering the Dakotas – Part II
The 2016 Trails4Transplants trail ride commenced May 28th in Bismarck, North Dakota, and concluded 324 miles later in Aberdeen, South Dakota. This was the fourth leg of the planned 2000 mile trek, and marked 1383 miles of the trip completed.
Just over 100 individuals participated, some riding or supporting during the entire ride, other participating for a portion. There were no major accidents, mishaps or injuries during the trail. The largest daily participation in terms of riders was 37, and a total of 5600 miles were collectively ridden, and $40,000 was raised.
The communities along the route rolled out the red carpet for the group, providing evening meals, staging areas, entertainment, and donations.
Plans are well underway for the 2017 and the 2018 rides; the latter concluding at the Gift of Life House in Rochester, Minnesota.
